Sherwood Public Records Inventory

Arkansas public records law opens many government records, but Sherwood does not have one all-purpose database. The Pulaski Circuit and County Clerk, Sherwood city offices, the Arkansas Judiciary, the Pulaski Assessor, the Treasurer, the Arkansas Department of Health, and state licensing or business agencies each hold different records. The table below treats the portal as only one access channel. Counters, mail, appointment rooms, and FOIA portals remain important.

Closed or restricted areas include juvenile cases, adoption records, sealed or expunged cases, protected victim information, Social Security numbers, driver and vehicle data, DD-214 military discharge filings, recent vital records, and secure-voter addresses.

Sherwood Open Records Law

The Arkansas Freedom of Information Act, Ark. Code Ann. Section 25-19-101 et seq., is the main public-records law for Sherwood and Pulaski County records. Section 25-19-105 controls access, inspection, copying, and exemptions. The Attorney General describes public records as writings, sounds, video, or data that reflect official functions, and records kept by public servants in official duties are presumed public unless an exemption applies.

Arkansas FOIA requests can be made in person, by phone, by mail, or electronically to the custodian. The state SAS FOIA form gives a useful example of practical intake fields and says to allow up to three business days for a response. Production time still depends on whether the record is active, stored, exempt, large, or needs redaction.

Exemption

A legal reason a record or part of a record is closed.

Certified copy

A copy bearing an official seal or certificate from the office that holds the record.

Index

A search tool that points to a record, but may not be the official file or image.

Sherwood Deed Records Access

The Real Estate Department of the Pulaski Circuit and County Clerk records deeds, mortgages, plats, liens, leases, notary bonds, powers of attorney, and related land documents. The department is at 401 West Markham Street, room 102, in Little Rock. Recording fees are $15 for the first page and $5 for each additional page. Mail submissions go to the Real Estate Department at the same clerk address.

The online split is the most important public records detail for Sherwood land searches. The clerk says the website can review records from 1994 to present. Scanned land records back to 1819 can be reviewed in the research area by appointment. The research area has two public computers, two-hour appointment slots Monday through Thursday, and a limit of two appointments per week.

The disclaimer matters because Pulaski County provides the index as a public search aid. A certified copy or older land-record review still points back to the clerk.

Sherwood Public Records Offices

Most public records offices that serve Sherwood are in Little Rock. The city offices remain the starting point for municipal and police records, but deeds, many court documents, marriage licensing, voter registration, assessor records, and tax records are county functions. For state vital records, the Arkansas Department of Health is the custodian.

Pulaski County Records Copies

The Pulaski County Records Department is the repository for all Pulaski County court documents and provides copies to courts and the public. Its page also covers county court orders, county contracts, annexation, road closing and dedication petitions, medical licenses, going-out-of-business licenses, DBA filings, minister credentials, and special improvement district applications.

Certified copies bearing the clerk seal cost $5. They can be picked up or mailed, but not emailed. Mail requests should include party names and a document description with payment sent to County Records at 401 West Markham Street, Suite 103.

Sherwood Court Records System

Search ARCourts is the statewide case-search interface for public case information in courts using the Contexte Case Management System. It allows searches by participant name and by organization or case description. The older CourtConnect material is being retired or transitioned, according to Arkansas Judiciary pages, so Search ARCourts is the main current public lookup.

Online court results are not official court records. The Search ARCourts print watermark states that official court records must be obtained from the clerk. For Sherwood District Court, the local court handles misdemeanor criminal, hot-check, traffic, and small-claims matters at 31 Shelby Road. Pulaski County Records handles broader county court-file copies.

Sherwood Property Records Portals

Property public records connect owners, addresses, parcels, subdivisions, tax accounts, and recorded documents. The Pulaski County Assessor says real-estate records are available online for public viewing. ARCountyData Pulaski says the assessor sponsors a free public search. The Pulaski County Parcel Viewer and PAGIS land ownership map add geography and parcel boundaries.

Do not treat GIS as the record of ownership by itself. Use GIS to identify the parcel and geography, then confirm owner and title through the assessor and Pulaski Deeds.

Sherwood Vital Public Records

Arkansas Code Section 20-18-305 controls when vital records become public. Birth records open after 100 years. Death, marriage, divorce, and annulment records open after 50 years. Before those dates, certified copies require eligibility, ID, and proof of relationship or legal authority where required.

ADH birth copies cost $12 for the first copy and $10 for each additional copy of the same record ordered at the same time. Death copies cost $10 for the first copy and $8 for each additional copy. ADH marriage records cost $10. Online orders add processing and identity-verification fees. Pulaski County marriage licenses cost $60, and certified county marriage copies cost $5.

Request Sherwood Public Records

A clean request starts by naming the custodian. Use the portal first when a portal exists, then capture the record number, case number, document number, parcel, date, party name, or address. If the record is not online, ask the office that keeps it. The City of Sherwood and Sherwood Police use FOIA or JustFOIA channels for many non-online city records. 1. Identify the custodian: city, police, clerk, court, assessor, treasurer, ADH, SOS, or another state agency.
2. Search the official index, if one exists, and save the exact case, document, parcel, or filing details.
3. Submit the request through the office portal, counter, mail address, phone intake, or electronic FOIA channel.
4. Ask for inspection, ordinary copies, or certified copies, since each has different handling and fees.
5. Revise the request if the custodian needs a narrower date range, name, office, or record description.

That portal is a fallback for county records that are not already searchable or copied through a department page.

Sherwood Police and Jail Records

Sherwood Police Department public records are separate from county jail and state correctional records. The police department is at 2201 E. Kiehl Avenue and links public information, accident reports, Flock transparency, code enforcement, support services, and departmental policies. For non-online police records, use Sherwood Police JustFOIA.

Crash reports use the Arkansas State Police crash report system, which charges a statutory $25 fee and says most reports are available within 10 business days after the crash. Pulaski County Detention Center has the current county jail roster. Arkansas Department of Corrections covers state inmates, and the ACIC registry covers publishable sex offenders by name or geography.

Sherwood Records Changes to Watch

Several current records details matter for public records access. Act 752 required photo ID for individuals filing deeds beginning August 5, 2025, with exemptions for certain professionals and government representatives. That affects filing deeds, not ordinary index searching. Pulaski County voter-registration news in August 2025 said 40,000 voters were asked to update voter status under National Voter Registration Act work.

The Pulaski Treasurer announced that 2025 payable-2026 personal property and real-estate tax books become delinquent after October 15, 2026. The office also announced a $0.25 eCheck fee and warned that the Treasurer does not contract with private individuals to collect property taxes. Sherwood Records Use Limits

Public records are for lawful personal research, civic transparency, genealogy, estate and heir work, property verification, and scam avoidance. Misuse can violate Arkansas and federal law. Protected-voter addresses, driver data, recent vital records, sealed court files, DD-214 filings, and sensitive identifiers are not ordinary public lookup data.

Verify important records with the custodian office. Portals can be incomplete, temporary, restricted, or only an index. Search ARCourts is not the certified court record, the Pulaski Deeds Temp Index is partial, and a GIS map is not a certified title record.
